FREEDOM FROM ADDICTION
I attended the Freedom for Life seminar and have had two major breakthroughs regarding addictions in my life. The first being a drinking problem. Four years ago I made a decision to stop drinking and since then I have been sober. However, I never made a decision to let God take the daily alcohol craving away. Instead, I had done things my way - with some success. At the seminar I was delivered from these cravings and now I'm entirely free of this addiction.
A few days after the conference, and with my alcohol addiction broken, I thought about my second major addiction - smoking. I thought how much easier it would be to be free of this too. For close to 20 years I have smoked a packet of 20 plus cigarettes a day. Trying to give it up resulted in the usual bundle of excuses, dramas and personality drawbacks that come with this dependency. But, after being delivered from one addiction, I said a simple prayer to God about the second. I asked Him for His mighty help in this seemingly uphill battle. A few cry outs to the Lord, a simultaneous three-day coffee/sugar-free period and I had my freedom! It felt like I hadn't smoked in years.
Since then I have claimed back close to 10 hours a week (time I would normally spend smoking), saved close to $100 a week, was able to run 5km after the first week and don't smell as bad as in the past. Most of all, I have found knowledge in the healing and forgiving power of God.

NEW JOB BREAKTHROUGH
I have been in a family business, Times have been tough While many other businesses closed down because of the financial uncertainty, God carried us through. We never missed a single bill payment but I didn't want to be in the business. My heart was not in it no matter how much I tried.
I really wanted a job at Cable Price where I had be previously employed for about 8 years, however they did not have any openings so I applied to five different organizations in various fields hoping somehting would open up.
However God kept prompting me to apply at Cable Price, Since I knew through my sources there were no vacancy I kept putting it off . After putting it off for a couple of weeks I sent in my C.V. for a position that didn't exist.
Miraculously in less than two weeks after I had applied for a position (one that didn't exist) at Cable Price . I was called for an interview with the regional manager at Rotorua. At the end of the interview with the regional manager, they negotiated pay and offered me a position to work for their company.
Praise God! I never got an interview for any of the other jobs I applied for.
God has placed in my heart a desire to see his Word spread in my new workplace. This is a new feeling for me, as I have never had a heart for people before - it's just not what I'm into. In an industry that is teeming with all sorts of hard men, God's given me a heart to love people and to see them saved. While in the family business I learned to rely on Him for all my physical needs. Now I need Him to lead me in this new battle that is second nature to many, but totally new for me. And THAT is the part that excites me!!
